The Problem
The client, a team of researchers and scientists working with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, needed a two-page fact sheet to communicate key findings from a complex climate report.
Their existing materials were created in PowerPoint and felt visually underwhelming and text-heavy, making it difficult for the general public and stakeholders to engage with or understand the information.
They wanted a visually appealing, easy-to-read summary that distilled a 22-page technical report into a concise, accessible communication tool suitable for public distribution.
The Solution
I designed a two-page fact sheet (front and back) that transformed the scientific content into a clear, visually engaging layout.
My process involved:
Analyzing the 22-page report summary to identify the most relevant and impactful findings.
Reorganizing the content into logical sections such as key findings, health impacts, vulnerable populations, and adaptation strategies.
Developing a visual hierarchy to guide readers through the information smoothly.
Incorporating icons, infographics, and illustrations to make complex data more approachable and memorable.
Choosing colours, typography, and layout consistent with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador’s visual identity while enhancing readability and engagement.
The final deliverable was a professional, public-friendly fact sheet that helped the research team effectively communicate their message to a wider audience — turning dense data into an informative, accessible, and visually compelling communication tool.
