My Role
Lead Brand & Graphic Designer
Overview
As part of the 500px Global Photography Awards campaign, I designed a 66-page printed photobook featuring the winning images from photographers around the world. Every award recipient received a physical copy of the book, produced in collaboration with Pikto Print.
The photobook serves as both a celebration of the winners and a premium, collectible artifact that represents the global creative community.
My Contribution
1. Visual Direction & Brand Consistency
Extended and refined the visual language I developed for the 500px Global Photography Awards campaign to ensure full brand consistency throughout the book.
Applied a clean, modern, and minimalistic approach that allowed photography to remain the hero of the layout.
2. Layout & Print Design
Designed all 66 pages, creating flexible layouts that accommodate both portrait and landscape images while maintaining balance and harmony.
Intentionally incorporated generous white space to give each photo room to breathe and to honor each photographer’s artistry.
Managed cover design, typography hierarchy, pacing of spreads, and sequencing to create an engaging and elegant viewer experience.
3. Production & Print Collaboration
Prepared all files for print, working closely with Pikto Print to ensure accurate color reproduction, paper selection, quality, and finishing details.
Oversaw final proofing and ensured the final product stayed true to the intended visual direction.
Outcome
The final photobook became a meaningful keepsake for the award winners and an extension of the campaign’s premium visual identity. Its minimalistic design emphasized the power of each image, allowing the photography to shine.
Receiving my own printed copy was a highlight — being able to hold, flip through, and collect a book I designed from start to finish was an incredibly rewarding moment.
